Requests to contribute to charities - are regulated by the States and by the Federal Government. The States regulate charitable solicitations from a comprehensive perspective, dictating how nonprofits may be incorporated and organized, under what conditions solicitations may be made, and how the proceeds of solicitations may be used. Also, various Federal agencies regulate particular forms or aspects of charitable solicitations.

Assisting With a Wide Variety of Legal Matters
A significant portion of the practice is devoted to providing state registration services to charities and fundraising professionals. The balance of the practice is devoted to assisting clients with the wide variety of other legal matters that nonprofits and fundraising professionals face including: securing recognition of tax-exempt status with the IRS, researching the regulatory implications of new fundraising strategies, negotiation and litigation with regulators over the proper application of regulatory statutes, and handling contract and employment disputes.
